We are primarily a cosmetic surgery hospital, providing patient-centred surgical care for patients undergoing inpatient and day-case procedures in a modern, professional and supportive environment. Our services include procedures such as rhinoplasty, abdominoplasty, blepharoplasty and breast surgery, including breast reduction, breast uplift and breast augmentation. We also offer a private hernia service.

The dressings clinic plays an important role in supporting patients following cosmetic surgery, hernia surgery and other surgical procedures. The clinic helps to ensure appropriate post-operative wound assessment, dressing changes, timely escalation of concerns, continuity of care and clear communication with patients, consultants and the wider clinical team.

Role Summary

The Bank Dressings Clinic Nurse will provide high-quality nursing care within the hospital’s dressings clinic, supporting patients with post-operative wound reviews, dressing changes, wound care advice and timely escalation where clinical concerns are identified.

This is a bank position without guaranteed minimum hours. Shifts will be offered according to service need and the successful applicant’s availability. Shifts are usually expected to take place on a Wednesday or Thursday and will normally be up to a maximum of 6 hours per shift. The role is intended to supplement and support the existing Dressings Clinic Nurse and provide additional capacity during clinics.

The postholder must work within their professional competence, the NMC Code, hospital policies and procedures, CQC Fundamental Standards, infection prevention and control requirements, safeguarding expectations and all relevant clinical governance arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Infection Prevention and Control

  • Provide safe, effective and compassionate nursing care to patients attending the dressings clinic.
  • Undertake wound assessment, dressing changes and post-operative wound reviews within agreed clinical pathways, competence and scope of practice.
  • Recognise signs of wound infection, delayed healing, wound dehiscence, bleeding, adverse reaction, pain concerns or other post-operative complications and escalate promptly to the appropriate clinician or manager.
  • Provide clear wound care advice to patients, including advice on dressing care, hygiene, symptoms that require attention and when to seek further clinical support.
  • Support continuity of care by documenting treatment provided, advice given, concerns identified and onward actions required.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, the existing Dressings Clinic Nurse, theatre team, ward team, outpatient team and administrative colleagues.
  • Ensure patient dignity, privacy, consent and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
  • Act within professional competence and seek advice where a clinical presentation falls outside agreed protocols or personal scope of practice.

Documentation and Information Governance

  • Comply with hospital infection prevention and control policies, standard precautions and aseptic non-touch technique principles where applicable.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and appropriately prepared clinical environment before, during and after clinic sessions.
  • Ensure dressings, consumables and clinical waste are used and disposed of safely in accordance with hospital procedures.
  • Follow hand hygiene, PPE, decontamination and environmental cleaning requirements.
  • Escalate infection prevention concerns promptly, including suspected wound infection, sharps incidents, contamination risks or breaches in procedure.

Safeguarding, Safety and Governance

  • Maintain accurate, legible, contemporaneous and confidential clinical records.
  • Record wound assessment findings, treatment provided, patient advice, escalation, follow-up requirements and any clinical concerns.
  • Handle patient information in accordance with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, confidentiality requirements and hospital information governance procedures.
  • Ensure that patient information is only shared where appropriate, lawful and necessary for care delivery.

Teamworking and Professional Conduct

  • Recognise and escalate safeguarding concerns relating to adults or children in accordance with hospital safeguarding policies and statutory requirements.
  • Report incidents, near misses, complaints, clinical concerns and adverse events promptly through the hospital’s reporting processes.

Working Arrangements

This is a bank role. Bank work is offered on an as-required basis and there is no guarantee of minimum hours. The hospital is not obliged to offer work, and the bank worker is not obliged to accept every shift offered.

  • Shifts are expected to be offered mainly on a Wednesday or Thursday and will usually be for a maximum of 6 hours per shift.
  • Shift availability will depend on service requirements, clinic activity and the need to supplement or support the current Dressings Clinic Nurse.

Training Requirements

The successful applicant must complete all required induction, mandatory training and role-specific training before undertaking unsupervised duties in the dressings clinic. Training requirements will be determined by the hospital according to the postholder’s previous experience, evidence of competence, professional registration status and the clinical duties they will be expected to perform.

  • Aseptic non-touch technique and safe wound care practice where applicable to the patient pathway.
  • Use, storage and disposal of dressings, consumables and clinical equipment used in the clinic.

Supervision, Sign-Off and Ongoing Development

The postholder may be required to complete a period of supervised practice or local competency sign-off before working independently in the dressings clinic. Any identified training needs must be addressed promptly and the nurse must not undertake duties outside their competence, training or agreed scope of practice.

The postholder is responsible for maintaining professional competence, NMC revalidation requirements and relevant continuing professional development. The hospital may request evidence of completed training, certificates, competency assessments or reflective learning where relevant to safe practice and governance requirements.

Role Summary

We are seeking a professional, organised and patient-focused Part-Time Receptionist to join our team. This role is central to the smooth running of the hospital and combines front-of-house reception duties with administrative and operational support. Main Purpose of the Job

To provide safe and effective support to the theatre team, ensuring high-quality patient care, adherence to infection prevention standards, and compliance with all hospital policies, including safeguarding and CQC regulations.

Main Duties

  • Assist with patient admission to the ward and theatre, ensuring dignity, respect, and compassion at all times.
  • Support infection prevention measures, including cleaning of theatre during and between cases.
  • Remove and replace waste bags, ensuring safe disposal of clinical waste in line with infection control policy.
  • Replenish and maintain hand hygiene dispensers at all times.
  • Ensure all requested items are added to the display board as directed by scrub staff.
  • Assist with instrument checks and ensure traceability labels are affixed to patient notes.
  • Participate in the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and raise concerns where necessary.
  • Fetch and deliver items required by the theatre team in a timely manner.
  • Document theatre activity in the required registers and notes accurately.
  • Promote and protect patient privacy, dignity, and safety.
  • Maintain excellent communication with the multidisciplinary team.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow the hospital’s Safeguarding Adults and Children Policy.

  • Escalate safeguarding concerns immediately to the Safeguarding Lead or Line Manager.
  • Attend safeguarding training at the required level for the role and maintain up-to-date knowledge.

Main Purpose of the Job

  • To work as a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with scrub and surgical first assistant (SFA) competencies, providing safe, effective, and high-quality perioperative care.
  • To support consultants across a range of surgical procedures, predominantly cosmetic surgery, ensuring excellent standards of patient safety and care at all times.
  • To work collaboratively within the theatre team, supporting theatre preparation, stock management, and patient recovery.
  • To maintain compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, CQC fundamental standards, and hospital policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in theatre as a Scrub Practitioner and Surgical First Assistant, ensuring compliance with the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) Standards and national SFA guidance.
  • Provide expert scrub support for consultants and contribute to safe intraoperative care.
  • Support patients throughout the perioperative pathway, including pre-operative preparation, intraoperative monitoring, and recovery.

Essential:

  • Current registration with the NMC (RGN) or HCPC (ODP).

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Anaesthetic Duties

  • Provide skilled assistance to the anaesthetist during the administration of anaesthesia.
